City of České Budějovice

České Budějovice is the largest city in the South Bohemia, with a population of 95,000; it is its economic, administrative and cultural centre. It is home to several universities, major public institutions and offices. The historic centre was declared a municipal conservation area in 1980.

South Bohemian ponds

The South Bohemian landscape is a region of ponds and distinctive villages in two basins in the middle of the region – the České Budějovice and Třeboň Basins.

Hluboká nad Vltavou

The Hluboká nad Vltavou château is the most beautiful château in South Bohemia.
It is located 9 km north of České Budějovice and is open all year round.

Český Krumlov

The Český Krumlov castle and château is an important architectural monument. The second largest castle and château complex in the Czech Republic, it is one of the most important monuments in Central Europe and one of the landmarks of the city. In 1992, the entire historical site was entered in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Holašovice village

The unique set of buildings in the style of the so-called Peasant Baroque from the 1870s forms a village conservation reserve and was entered in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1998. The village is 16 km west of České Budějovice.
